Gambling Commission Consultations on VIP Schemes and Online Game Design
The Gambling Commission – which regulates gambling activities in Great Britain – are currently consulting on changes to the design of online slots and the management of ‘VIP schemes’.
Changes to online slots games will be specifically to make them safer for consumers, particularly taking into consideration the speed of play, frequency of betting opportunities, as well as other factors on offer to players which can increase addiction and risk of harm. You have until 3rd September to respond to this consultation if you would like to.
The Commission is also seeking views on how gambling businesses should manage their ‘VIP schemes’ for those customers deemed as ‘high-value’, as they may be more at risk of gambling related harms. The Commission are proposing mandatory requirements for the management and incentivisation of these customers. You have until 14th August to respond to this consultation if you would like to.
