GamCare gives evidence to the Commons Select Committee
Following the recent publication of the Gambling White Paper, GamCare CEO Anna Hemmings gave evidence on behalf of GamCare to the House of Commons Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport.
We were invited to appear as part of a small group of the nearly 100 organisations who submitted written evidence to the committee’s ongoing inquiry into gambling regulation. On May 16th 2023, appearing alongside GambleAware and Gordon Moody, Anna made a strong case role of the third sector in delivering support for 90% of the people who seek help for gambling-harms.
Chaired by the Rt Hon Damian Green MP, the Committee plays a vital role in scrutinising government policy and, when its inquiry concludes, will make recommendations that may inform the white paper’s proposals.
In preparation, we worked closely with our partners and held a focus group with our Lived Experience Community to understand their hopes and aspirations for regulatory changes. You can watch Anna give evidence below and find a transcript of the session here.
