Risk information on modern gambling products
[Survey now closed]
Researchers at Warwick University have developed a brief online survey to investigate perceptions of the fairness of various gambling opportunities.

Why is this research being carried out?
In this project we are interested in investigating people’s perceptions of the fairness of various gambling opportunities, as there is currently limited research looking at users’ understanding of the risk information provided on modern gambling products.
We hope to develop evidence which could lead to more useful information about the risk of play being developed for modern gambling products.
What’s involved in this research?
We have developed a short online survey which should take less than five minutes to complete. We would be very grateful to receive responses from GamCare service users.
Who is carrying out this research?
Dr. Philip Newall, Dr. Lukasz Walasek, and Dr. Elliot Ludvig are three psychologists from the University of Warwick who research modern gambling products.
This study has been reviewed and given favourable opinion by the University of Warwick’s Humanities and Social Science Research Ethics Committee (HSSREC).
What will happen to any information I give?
The information you provide will be treated confidentially and used only for the research described above, and access to the data will be restricted to the research team. No identifiable data will be collected from you as part of this study. This means that once your responses have been submitted to the research team, your individual responses cannot be identified.
Summaries of the research may be presented at conferences and included in scientific publications, and anonymized data will be shared open access. Data will be reviewed after a period of ten years, in line with the University of Warwick data retention policy.
Where can I find out more?
To find out more about the research or for any other queries, please email [email protected].
We would greatly appreciate it if you could avoid discussing the content of the survey with other GamCare users while data collection is ongoing.
